Every month the online competition runs and you will be judged on the items listed above. This year the competition attracted circa 12,000 entries from the worlds most talented Photographers.
The Guild's Judges have selected 10 finalists in a few categories that have entered, Those that have been selected are really the best of the best.
Is wardrobe important in photography Competitions?
The clothing selected for competition images can really make a difference, early into entering competitions I found that colours and styles are what can make or break an image.
Dependent on the type of head shot image that is required then will depend on how it is styled. When Shooting for office staff ensuring shirts have no creases in them or that the ties are straightened are all items of what will make the editing time quicker.
The colour wheel is often consulted and choosing colours opposite on the wheel are complementary colors. When you place them next to each other, they help each other stand out and the combination looks appealing.
Do I need to use Editing Software?
If you are entering competitions then ideally yes you do need to use editing software, even if you entering in camera artistry, which is an image that has only very minor adjustments such as cropping.
The editing software used for this image is adobe bridge where I made some small adjustments like colour correction then I move the image into adobe photoshop to remove dirt/dust spots and a number of other items, please feel free to watch some of my YouTube videos to see how I carryout some editing.
Do I need to employ a Makeup Artist?
This all depends on the image you are entering into the competitions, this image the drag artist has done their own makeup as they would for their act.
I have previously used makeup/ special effect artists for some of my competition images.
